Honesty and Integrity

Honesty is defined as:
  1. moral uprightness: the quality, condition, or characteristic of being fair, truthful, and morally upright
  2. truthfulness: truthfulness, candor, or sincerity
Integrity is defined as:
  1. possession of firm principles: the quality of possessing and steadfastly adhering to high moral principles or professional standards
  2. completeness: the state of being complete or undivided
  3. wholeness: the state of being sound or undamaged
I believe if you honor these two words then you'll be good in the world.  I try to tea qch my kids that having integrity may be the most important characteristic they ever have. It's something, that once you lose, you most likely will never have again (at least as far as other people are concerned).

My middle son came home today and said that one of his friends has been paying him to do his homework.  We explained to him that this is cheating and that he was hurting his friend by doing this.  My son didn't seem to think it was cheating at first, I guess he assumed cheating as if his friend was copying off his homework.  We explained that he wasn't helping his friend because when it came to test time his friend wouldn't do well because he didn't do his homework and learn the content.

I'm proud of my son for telling me, he didn't get in trouble. We just told him it stopped today because it could result in him getting failing grades.  He said "Well, *myfriend*, is in a different class." We told him teachers talk and his would find out and punishment would result.

My middle son is honest about 95% of the time. I'm sure he stretches the truth or gives us an "I don't know" once in a while. He will tell the truth even when it could possibly get him in trouble. He learned quickly in life that the trouble is less when you tell the truth then it is when you lie.  At times I've had to leave the room to laugh because I was shocked he would admit to something he did wrong. For example: one time my youngest son was crying after I had sent them all to bed. I went and asked why was he crying. My middle son chirped up "because I hit him." I had to step away so that I could give discpline without cracking up.  You kind of had to been there. The way he said it, so frankly, was funny.

Anyway, I hope he keeps coming to me with stuff like this. I think he was probably bothered by it and needed his dad and I to affirm that it was wrong and he needed to quit.  Parents make good fall guys and I'll gladly take the blame when it comes to someone trying to get my kiddies to do something that affects their integrity and keeps them from being honest.  They are free to say "I can't because my mom won't let me." when it comes to situations like this.

Great Day

My oldest son has made the decision to accept Jesus and be baptized next Sunday morning. God is working in my family this year. My sons are much braver then I was at their age, smarter too I think.

See That Right There? That's My Last Nerve.

My beautiful, smart, eccentric, creative daughter.  The little girl I always wanted the Hallmark mother-daughter relationship with.  The young woman who I used to dream that would we would be closest confidants.  Is driving me crazy.  We've never been super close.  That don't mean I don't love her, that she isn't a big part of my world. It's just I don't think either of us know how to be close to each other.  Probably mostly my fault, I didn't teach her how.  How could I? I was never taught either.  There is an awful circle between mothers and daughters in my family. I've mentioned it before or at least alluded to it.  I tend to break it, but don't know how. I don't know if my daughter's personality/behaviors will even allow it to be broken.
My daughter has always had anger issues.  They seem to be getting worse.  Today she threw a can of carrots in a general direction at her brothers.  She was mad because her turn was past being over on the Xbox.   So in retaliation she picks up a can of carrots and chucks it hitting the video chair my middle son was sitting in. An inch higher and I would of been on my way to the e.r. to have him checked for concussion.  She claimed she didn't mean to throw it.  I'm big on people owning their actions/behaviors. If you picked up the can and threw it, you meant it.  Did you mean for anyone to get hurt or potentially get hurt? I don't know, but somewhere you had to know that there was a chance of that happening.
Can I talk to my daughter about her anger control issues? Only to a very small extent.  She has a tendency to blame everyone else for her actions. Again, I believe you're responsible for your own actions.  This leads to an argument which leads to a verbal fight and I get frustrated and have to leave so I can chill.  My husband can talk to her, it doesn't always usually do any good.  She knows what he wants to hear "Yes dad I'll stop" and is happy with it.  Then the next day she goes on doing what she wants.
I want to teach her how to and when to stop and chill out and calm herself.  However she refuses to listen to me. So I'm thinking it's getting time to get professional help, a counselor that maybe can teach her.  I'm terrified that she'll hurt her brothers one day.  I'm terrified that she wouldn't have any regret for causing them pain.  She shows no regret now when she verbally and physically abuses them.  She told me the other day she feels it's okay to treat family like this.  She doesn't behave like this around people she doesn't live with.  Teachers, friends, other family members and everyone else say she's kind, compassionate, friendly.  So in her mind it's okay to treat those who love you the most like shit as long as you're nice to everyone else.  A lot of this I feel is my fault.  I shouldn't of let her have a relationship with her granny.  Her granny thinks it's okay to treat family like crap. Her granny thinks it's okay to embarrass and hurt the feelings of those who love you as long as you find it funny.  For example: the other night my daughter decided to start teasing me because I didn't have my teeth in.  I told her that I would like for her to stop because needing dentures in my early 30s is not something I'm proud of and I didn't need her to point out what I look like with out them.  She doesn't seem to understand that it hurts to tease others.  She knows what it feels like to be teased, she knows what that it makes you feel rotten.  However she seems to forget that when she's teasing someone else. Again, it's only the 5 of us she does this to.
Some days I feel like I'm at my wit's end.  I feel like though I love my daughter, I don't like her very much.   Time to go reinforce that last nerve because I'm determined not to lose it.

Made it to the Gym Today and Happy 13th Birthday to my Girl

I started to write this yesterday but Hubby came home and then the kids then we had to do some running for Daughter's birthday.  So I guess I'll finish it this morning.

It is Friday, it is suppose to warm up and I'm so glad. I made it to the gym today, not too big of a thing until I get to where I'm going more then once a week. I want to go, I love it when I do. However, I'm forever talking myself out of it. I have self-esteem issues and I know that most everyone at the gym is more worried about how they look then what I look like.  When I catch someone looking at me they usually just smile, nod and go on doing whatever it was they are doing.  So I know I don't care, but my poor, beat down self-esteem has issues.  It's gotten better over the years, but still needs work.

Anyway, this weekend is all about Daughter(pretty much). She's thirteen now, a teenager.  I'm wondering where is the time going and how come I have all these big kids now.  I don't feel old, I feel like I'm still in my mid-twenties at the latest (yes I know 32 is not nowhere considered old...unless you're a vehicle, then you're an antique).  Yesterday we went and bought some clothes and a cake for her and Sunday we are taking the kiddies and Daughter's bf to the circus.  Which will be awesome as the kids haven't been and Hubby and I don't ever recall going to one either.

Happy 13th birthday

It's sadly amazing how quickly they go from this:
To this:

I hope you have a great day son. I hope you don't change as you go head on into the teenage years. Please keep your imagine and creativity, your generosity. Most of all your ability to shrug off problems and hardship as the early teen years aren't always the easiest.

What a Week It's Been

Monday, Well Monday was mundane. Nothing happened on Monday(except my good friend and best neighbor's daughter had her birthday...she's now in the double digits and preteening all the way). Tuesday was my birthday...yeah....I really don't want to be a year older anymore. I don't need the reminders that I'm aging. I don't really want to celebrate another birthday until I'm like 80 then it turns into "WOW! you've lived HOW LONG?" not the "Another step closer to being over the hill, huh". Okay so the peak of that so-called hill is still aways away beings that I just turned 31. I'm still a baby compared to most of the residents I care for at work and I don't have any grey hair(knocking on wood, crossing my fingers, spinning clockwise and throwing salt over my shoulder so that I didn't just curse myself) and just a few small wrinkles that probably I only notice. Wednesday wasn't bad...only thing happened Wednesday was that I was told what time to come in for my youngest sons surgery today.
Today(Thursday) is Hubby's birthday. Love ya hunny. It was also the day for my youngest son's surgery. He has/had chronic mastoiditis and had to have part of the mastoid bone taken out and the infection drained(mastoidectomy) and he had to have tympanoplasty (his eardrum repaired). He was really groggy after the surgery and the anesthesia has made him nauseous and he's been having trouble keeping food and drink down. I think it's starting to wear off though 'cause he ate some chicken nuggets and has kept them down for a hour and a half now. He has a lovely dressing and bandage motif going on. At least his head will be warm tonight. He hates it because it presses against his ear and stitches and hurts a little bit. His painkillers fixes that though so he'll be good through the night. Tomorrow sometime we can remove the dressing and just put a large bandaid over the stitches and incision area for a week. He can't get his ear wet for a month. This is a boy who loves, loves his baths so that may be a bit tricky. I'm thinking on getting him a shower cap, lol. Not sure he'll wear it though. Sometime in the next few months to a year his hearing should be restored as his ear heals. I'm just glad we found the problem and resolved it before it got worse.
Tomorrow I plan on playing WoW, cleaning house, and working out. Saturday depends on if Hubby works or not and Sunday is my oldest son's 13th birthday. I am sooo not ready to be the mother of a teenager...especially not one that I can practically look square into the eye with out bending my head. I'm afraid next year he may surpass me in height...shudder.

I have cool kids

I really do when most toddlers/little kids where wanting to listen to Barney and itsy biddy spider when in the car mine were rocking out to AC/DC, Godsmack and Rob Zombie. Instead of nothing but cartoons all day, mine would be content watching fishing shows (okay not my favorite but one can only take some much sponge bob and toy story) and cooking shows. As my kids get older I get compliments on their ability to hold a conversation. I figure that's a result of the times where I've had to be a stay-at-home mom and the only people I had to talk to all day were under 5. I wasn't about to baby talk for 8 or more(usually more 'cause hubby did lots of out-of-town jobs in those days and so it just me and them most of the time) hours a day. As a result I have 4 intelligent, witty, smart-ass kids. I wouldn't trade them for anything in the world.
I don't know what brought this up...well I do. I was driving home from class and Hells Bells came on the radio and it reminded me of when my oldest was four or five. His favorite movie as Little Nicky(which now I don't allow him to watch because he had gotten where he would talk like Adam Sandler did in the movie all the time and it got to be a little disturbing) and he would sing Hells Bells and Rock You Like a Hurricane all the time.
Now my kids love to listen to AC/DC, Metallica, Godsmack, Rob Zombie...the harder the rock the better and on lighter days they like Beastie Boys. My daughter now, she does tend to lean towards the teen pop type of musice...but she just has to be different from the rest of us. It's okay different is good. That's why they make mp3 players and headsets.
I have to remember all this for when my nerves are stretched so tight you could bounce a quarter off of them and I've heard "Moooooommmmmm!! So and so did...!!!" for the umpteenth time and the beer in the fridge is looking like manna from heaven(and I don't really like beer) and I totally deserve an Arbor Mist.
Lets here it for cool kids...mine may not win popularity contests in school but at home they are the greatest kids ever.

Stop Growing Up

I took a picture of my dear daughter this morning and it struck me how grown-up she's looking. To me she's looking older then her 11 years. So I decided that she cannot grow up anymore. Not till I'm ready for it. Yea I know, not likely to happen but it's a nice thought. She brought home a paper from school advertising pom squad sign-ups and she said she would like to do it. So I emailed the lady for more information. Dd has had absolutely no experience in cheer, dance, pom or anything similar but hey if she wants to and it's not too expensive I might just let her. Well and if they accept girls with no experience...some teams don't. The paper says there's no try-outs so I'm taking that as they accept all experience levels. If she gets on the team she'll be performing with them at Riverkings and Redbirds games. Hockey and baseball anyone? If nothing else it will be a good experience for her and she may like it. Here she is posing in her new clothes before getting on the bus this morning. She was proud of the outfit she put together. She even has a brown, corduroy purse that matches the corduroy jacket and pants she's wearing.

Happy Birthday to my Little Girl

Here's a little video of her opening her presents:

Trina's Birthday
You kinda need to know the background for the popcorn thing.  You see my daughter and her friend had this great idea to see what would happen if they took the microwave popcorn out of the bag and stuck it in a bowl in the microwave.  As you can imagine this made a great mess.  They both got into a bit of trouble and my daughters friend's grandpa gave my daughter the popcorn as a joke.  The joke flew way over their heads, because being kids they totally forgot about the incident.  The popcorn was probably stale as he had popped it the day before, I think.

Sometimes I Wonder...

...why I even bother to decorate my house.  On Thanksgiving I had cleaned off my table, put down a pretty runner, had a pretty bowl full of pecans and the pretty goblets my friend had bought me.  It looked so nice.  Then I leave the room only to come back and find someone had spilled root beer all over everything and left it there.  It's not the spilling of the soda that upset me, accidents happen, but to spill it and leave the mess there staining my new table runner.
Now yesterday, I dug out the tree and christmas decorations.  Went to the stores to get some more pretties for the tree.  Put the tree and lights up, turning my fingers beet red putting up outside lights in 30 degree temperatures (it may of been forty but it seemed to get colder and colder each time I stepped outside).  Had everything looking so festive and pretty by the time the kiddies got home from school.  I was so proud of myself and in a great mood.  Kiddies come home and start messing around the tree.  I tell them just to leave it alone and just look at it.  They are not home more then 45 minutes when I hear a crash as I look in dread to the living room.   The tree is now laying on it's side and everyone is saying "I didn't do it".  I try to stand it back up only to have it fall to the other side.  Tears coming to my eyes with every sound of breaking glass balls.  I got pissed to say the least.  I couldn't even stand to look at my children, if they would of just stood back and admired the tree it would of been fine.  No, they had to touch it, put paper and other odd items on it, arrange the ornaments so the tree was no longer balanced.   I didn't go back into the living room until Hubby got home, I just couldn't face the destruction.
Now my tree is back up, not quite as pretty as it was.  The garland is still in disarray, the ornaments aren't as space out as they were, the tree is a little squashed looking(being that it's fake and it's fell twice in one day).  I'm going to try and smile and get over it, but it sucks that it seems every time, every single time I try to make my house look nice...someone comes around and end of story.

Happy Birthday Son-o-mine

I know this is a day early, but I got to work and then do your birthday so I won't have time tomorrow to post this.  So I wish you, my dear son, a happy 9th birthday.
You might be my middle son, but your the one who does things first.  You held your head up sooner then any of your siblings(or any other baby I know) at 2-3 weeks.  You were crawling by 4 months and pulling yourself up into a standing position.  You were walking by 8 months (when the rest of your siblings waited till around a year).  Shoot you were the first to get tonsillitis (and you got that the first time at 18 months).  To this day you have to be the first, the best and I love you for it.  I love that you keep going till you achieve your goals.  I love that you have set reasonable life goals already (he says he wants to be an Ironworker, a mechanic and have 6 or 7 kids...I say good luck and hope you don't mind hardwork, lol).
Now that you've reached the grand age of 9 years you can slow down a bit and enjoy what's left of your childhood years, or at least slow down so I can enjoy what's left of your childhood years.

My Dear Children...

...you know I love you, or at least I hope you do. I know it's hard to tell when I'm harping on you to do your homework, finish your chores, please do your homework. It's hard to tell I love you when I'm yelling at you, for the 100th time, to quit hitting your brother(s)/sister, please do your homework...DO YOUR DAMN HOMEWORK. I love you even when I'm saying, why isn't the dishes done, how am I suppose to fix dinner(or insert meal here) when I have nothing to cook on(serve on, eat with) or when the stove is pile 10 inches high with pots and pans (but yet the sink is empty). I love you even when I'm screaming at you, trying to figure out why you feel it's okay to do everything I tell you (and that you should know by now ) not to do. I love you, even though you cannot go to your friend's house/birthday party/ Chuck E Cheese/get that game, etc...
It's hard for me to realize you love me sometimes as well. When I ask if your homework's done and you give me that what-are-you-talking-about look. I'm sometimes not sure you even care when I wash/fold/put away 6 loads of laundry only to find it all over the floor of the bedroom and your telling me you have nothing to wear. Do you care when I make cinnamon rolls and bread and cookies and when I ask for help in cleaning the kitchen you look at me like I just asked you if the moon was really made of cheese.
I wish you could feel how much I hurt emotionally and physically after a night like tonight when I've begged, pleaded, screamed, bargained and done nearly everything I could think of to get you to do an hours worth of schoolwork. Which, my dear daughter, you took 4 hours to complete. My dear middle son decided to waste that four hours and not even finish a third of yours. You make me feel so overwhelmed and stressed out that my gut hurts and all I want to do is crawl into bed and escape. Even now, an hour and a half passed your bedtime, you are giving me grief. Please explain to me why you cannot just simply go to bed when told. You know that 5 days a week you have to get up early in the morning and go to school. You know that 5 days a week I have to get up early and go to work. Yet you keep getting up and playing, asking for one more drink, having to bathroom for the umpteenth time, bothering your siblings, having to tell me or your father something that really could of waited till morning. You know that mommy doesn't seem to feel well most days lately, and still you go out of your way to push buttons. You cannot just simply do what your asked to do. Simple jobs. I try to never give you more then I think you could handle. Which means I never give you something to do that cannot be finished in no more then 20 minutes. Not counting homework...but one worksheet, one chapter, maybe two worksheets...should not take you more then an hour to complete.
I love you, my dear children. I really hope I can figure out a way to make ya'll listen to where we can have a harmonious household. I'm tired of yelling.

Back-to-School

Today was the kiddies first day back to school. Well it's more of a registration day, they send all the kids for a half day to meet their teachers, find their classrooms, etc... Some people bussed their kids in for this, I drove mine in (along with my neighbor and her daughter).
We went in and found my dd's classroom first. Her teacher seemed nice if not a little standoffish. That was probably due to all the parents coming in and wanting to be able to say hi to everyone and show kids where to put their stuff and so on.
Next came my middle son's classroom. His teacher seemed okay. I think she was a bit disappointed that I had to take his folder with me. Darnit though I had to be at work as soon as I could and just did not have time to sit and fill out all those forms x4. Yes I know other parents were setting in the tiny desks doing it but I still had two other teachers (one of them in a different school) to meet. So I took the folder, let my son introduce himself to his teacher and find his seat. Gave him a hug bye and went on to find my youngest son's class.
His class was down this hall, across this hall, and up this hall. Hey there it is. His teacher was one of those overly happy type of teachers that little kiddies like but you wonder what exactly is in their drink on the desk. She seemed nice enough though.
Now we go to the after school area in the cafeteria to figure out how oldest son is suppose to get to the after school program. She smiles and says she doesn't remember the bus number. So we go to the table designated as the bus table and ask there. We find that out and shuffle out to the van.
We pull out of the parking lot take a right then a left go around the corner and up the hill. Pull in to the parking lot of the middle school, very slowly. See lots of trucks and suv's parked up over the curb in a grassy area. Say my van is not a truck so we're not going to attempt that and go on to find a parking spot in Australia (okay maybe not that far away...it was probably New Guinea). Go in to the great wall of print outs to search for oldest sons name. Find it and go down the nearest hallway assuming that this is the way we should head. After days of walking (okay so it was just a minute) we come to a crossroads. My neighbor and I and our kids look down one hall, then the other. We must of had that "I don't no where in the Hell I am and where in the Hell I'm suppose to go look" 'cause two or three people came up to ask us if we need help. We say we are looking for such and such room number and two people give us the answer. So we follow the pointing fingers and come to the end of the other hall. We must of still had the look 'cause another person asked us if we know where we were suppose to go. Of course now we confidently could say yes and found the classroom with no other problems. Oldest son's teacher seemed a little frazzled. She handed us a stack of papers, thanked us for coming, I left my son with a good bye have fun (can't hug middle schoolers ya' know...even though I almost made the faux pas of holding his hand in the parking lot, but quickly righted it before anyone saw).
Then I went and dropped my neighbor/friend off and her daughter off at their house and zoomed on in to work. To sit and worry hoping that the kiddies and their teachers remembered that they were suppose to go to the after school care and not ride the bus home. That's one of my fears...that the kids will be sent home and neither their daddy nor I will be there to meet them. So at about 12:30p I call my neighbor friend to see if the bus has gone by and if she saw the kids. She said it went by a long time ago and no sign of the kiddies so they must of gone where they were suppose to. Sucks to be a work away from mom sometimes. I don't know how many times I have fretted over things like that. Oh well, such is life...right.
Thursday is the first full day of school...they'll be riding the bus that day...so a little less worry.

2 Weeks and 5 days...

...or otherwise titled "I love my children, I love my children (rinse and repeat)".

Do you ever want to hang your children to the ceiling fans by their toenails? Yea, me too. Today is one of those days. I'm trying to get my kiddies to clean house. Because I dislike cleaning and I especially dislike cleaning up after other people who are old enough to pick up their own dang mess. I try to be a patient person. I am with everyone and everything except my kiddies. I try with them, but it don't work. I try to be nice. "Pick up the living room and I'll set up the slip-n-side.", "Clean your room and your friends can come over", " Do the dishes and I'll give ya 50 bucks" (okay so not the last one even though hubby had similar deal with our oldest son, it was twenty not fifty but it doesn't matter 'cause oldest son is not greedy enough I guess to work for it). Nice don't work. I get mean...that don't work either. Nuttin works. My dd is, instead of worrying about her own job, getting on to her brothers for not doing their jobs. Dear dd last I checked I'm the one with all the stretch marks from carrying and delivering all you brats so please, please let me be the one to worry about who is doing what.

I love my children, I love my children...

...but I hate seeing my house this way. I could, probably, clean up the entire thing myself. That doesn't teach the kids anything though. Well, yea it does. It teaches my boys that housecleaning is woman's work and they can sit on their arse and make all the mess they want 'cause mama is going to clean it up. It teaches my daughter that she is not responsible for her messes 'cause mama is going to clean it for her and when she gets older and becomes mama she'll then be responsible for everything. This mama does not do that. You make the mess, you clean the mess. Their daddy is the same way, but at this moment he's not home. He should be sometime this evening but not now and has not been all week. It shows. He can get them to work, I can't. I don't understand why, never have. I can do the exact same things, say the exact same words and it doesn't work. He comes home and they'll work. Heck if my mom came down here they would work for her. Why not me!?
I know that's the battle cry for all the moms out there "Why will you listen to everyone else but me!?"
So, does anyone come over and make my kids listen. Or come over and set out front with me sipping strawberry margaritas till we forget what a mess is. I do have 2 slip-n-sides.

2 weeks 5 days till 1st day of school

Happy Birthday Little Man

I want to call you my baby boy, even though you haven't been a baby for a while and you probably would get upset if I did. 7 years ago today I went in to the hospital to be induced and introduced to you. 7 years ago tomorrow when we were getting ready to go home I would be told that there was a problem and we had to wait for the pediatric cardiologist to come in. You had two holes in your heart. The next week you developed jaundice and had to be taken in every day to the pediatrician's office to heel sticks...for the longest time you wouldn't let anyone touch your feet, poor little guy. Jaundice cleared up after I had to quit breastfeeding you for 24 hours(not much makes you feel worse then hearing that it may be your milk making your baby sick). Then thrush. Your first few weeks just wasn't the easiest for you. The jaundice and thrush cleared up and by the time you were 6 month's old, the holes in your heart had healed and you were chubby and happy and smiling you would of never known you had anything wrong in the first place.
Love you son, now you and your brother's and sister can quit getting older any day now.

Wow...

I didn't know my little previous 6-lined blog entry would get me so much web traffic. I'm going to have to post entries on News stories more often huh. Actually no I don't watch the news that much except for local news and weather and our local weather has been crazy I feel for all the towns in Arkansas who got hit by tornadoes the other day. It's kinda funny...some of the towns that are getting hit with a tornado I had once considered looking at houses at. So glad we didn't move there and I hope everyone affected has a chance to rebuild and recover.
I was going to go to my middle son's class to help with their Cinco de Mayo party but my youngest decided to run a low fever this morning. It's only 99.9 but I've had schools send kids home with a fever that low so may as well keep him home just in case. I have now idea why he's running a low fever as he's not shown any other symptoms, sometimes my kids do this just run a fever for no obvious reason at all. He'll be fine, he's already asking for McDonald's for lunch. I think he ran a temp on purpose...he knows it's my day off and the past couple of weeks on my days off he all of a sudden "don't feel good."
Well I feel like I have more or at least should have more to blog about but I am drawing a blank so I guess I'll stop here and save the rest for another day.

Well, Now I just cross my fingers and wish very hard

I just sent in my app to a nursing program...I'm really hoping for this one, if I don't get in then so be it I'll try again later. I know I already have one in for the lpn program but I really, really, really(goddess are you listening?) really want to be a Rn not an lpn. This will save me about 5,000 dollars if I can just go straight into an Rn program instead of having to go through an lpn and branching over to Rn. I've gotten accepted once before in this program but I've also screwed up so bad the last semester at college that I'm afraid they'll just flat out say no. It'll be okay though 'cause all they can say is no right? If they do I just go on with plan B if that don't work then I'll figure out plan C but I'll get there. I actually did the app last week online today I just sent in my 25.00 and started sending in my letters of recommendation. 1 down 2 more to go. Bad thing is no one here has known me more then a few months and nearly everyone else I know are related. The whole big family from a small town thing, your related to everyone. It was a real good thing we moved 'cause most likely my kids would of ended up dating cousins and that just ain't right.
My hubby just wants me to decide on what I'm going to do and do it. He would rather not have to pay more then he absolutely has to though. He will though if needed without complaining...too much. He's such a great guy really. Actually I know he's waiting for me to start earning the "big bucks" so he can slack off and spend all his time fishing and playing video games, lol.
Well that's it I guess for now, gotta go put my "sick" kid to work. He was sick last night had a migraine and vomiting but no fever. Today he seems just dandy 'cept for a nasty cough that he's had for about 2 weeks, if it doesn't go away this week I'm going to have to make a doctor's appointment I guess. He gets this way every year a couple times a year so I figure it's allergies but since my niece has been unofficially diagnosed with asthma with similar symptoms I'm thinking I outta have my ds checked out.

For the want of a shoe...

My kids' school seems to of need a charity case and decided since my son wore shoes to school that had a hole in them ONCE (had no choice it was either those or some that were so wet they leaked) we were that case. Since then they have gave my son new shoes, sent my daughter home with hooker clothes that were too big for her and gave us several of the school carton type milk and juices. Today was the topper though, the school nurse sent my daughter home with some soap "samples" that were "extra". BULLSHIT!! My kids are not dirty, we can afford shoes and clothes and milk and juice and soap. As for telling my kids that all this stuff is just extra stuff that's a big load of crap. If this school has so much "extra" stuff just lying around then how come everytime you turn around they are fundraising for this or that.
The social worker for the school even called me up after they sent home some shoes for my youngest son and asked if everything was okay. She thought it was odd that we sent our oldest son on a field trip that cost 85.00 but our youngest was wearing holey shoes to school. WTF my children don't wear holey shoes or clothes to school on a regular basis. I even inspect my youngest to make sure he has underwear on (he's a commando type of man what can I say). I try to take every care to make sure there are no problems with the kids' appearences 'cause I know people judge and I try to avoid situations like this. I explained to her that no everything is fine, yes I work full-time now and my husband makes good money at his job. We only have one appliance in our yard and all of our cars are running at the moment...we're hoping to have one on blocks soon though and when we get a new fridge we're gonna give the old one a place of honor on the front porch, right beside the old broken couch(okay so I didn't say that last part but I'm so tempted to go redneck on these people). We just bought our own house, with it's own 1,000 dollar a month mortgage payment. Would we go and do that if we could not afford clothes, shoes and food for our children?!
The hooker clothes are something else though. I really should thank them for giving me the oppurtunity to explore other career options...Oh no wait, it must of been career day and they thought my daughter would be ideal for that type of work. Like I'm going to send my 10 year old daughter to school in a purple slutty halter top and a skirt that isn't even 5 inches long.
Enough's enough already...I emailed the school nurse ('cause she was the one to send the soap home) that anything else sent home with the kids will go to freecycle or a foodbank, I will not accept it.

Made it through the weekend...

Now only one more week of Spring break to get through. I put in an application at a nursing home near here. I've only worked for the company I'm currently working for a couple months now but it's gotten old quick. They asked me to work 11-7 Friday, I was fine with that. Well 30 minutes after I get home I start getting phone calls from my supervisor. She wanted me to come in at 3 and work from 3p-7a (I had already agreed to come in an extra hour early), yea I told her I didn't think so (I was a little cranky 'cause I hadn't slept yet and the thought of working 8 hours getting a just a few hours sleep and then working 15 hours just did not sound good to me). Then I finally get about 2 and a half hours sleep she calls me back asking if I can be there at noon for OT training. This was at 10:45, it's a 20 minute drive to the place so I figured I would just get up and go, she said the training was only gonna last 30 minutes. So I get there and wait for 20 minutes for this lady who is suppose to show up and finally my supervisor calls her and she's not coming in tell 5pm. I'm real happy about hearing this. So I go home eat lunch and get another hours sleep, spend a little time with my family and get ready to be there at 5pm...get there at 5pm and the lady does not show up till 6pm (the time I had originally agreed to coming in). I just love how organized this company is. So basically I've decided this is it, I cannot be at beck and call for them for the little amount they pay me. I cannot just drop stuff and come in, I have kids I have to arrange and plan things and so need nearly a days notice to do such.
So I applied at the nursing home, spoke with the D.O.N. for a minute who said to call her this afternoon and she would see what we could do. I make more money working at a nursing home and will feel more appreciated.
Okay back to the title, lol. Still having the influx of children at our place, I'm getting real tired of the bully tendencies of the neighbor boys though. It's stressing my dd out who is feeling like she has to protect everyone (herself, her brother's, the girl up the street and the boys' own sister and our property) from these boys. She's only ten, this is a tall order she's putting on herself. She's not coming and getting me the instant these boys start their shit like I've told her to (damned independent children I'm raising here...they all are like their daddy and I and try their best to work out all their problems and everyone else's without asking for help). It's not mental bullying either(or not just name-calling, laughing and teasing) these boys have been getting a bit physical as well(kicking, pinching and scratching) and all these girls are doing is minding their own business. I think it's mostly a group thing, 'cause I've noticed on a one-on-one basis these boys are all right and polite. When they are all together though, then they start shit. If my kids are outside either their daddy or me or both are outside and we see and hear everything so I know the girls are not making it up as I've had to go and break up the fights. If this spring break week is what summer is going to be like then it's gonna suck.
